Towbar Towing Electrics Trailer Socket EASY WIRING KIT Modern Canbus Cars
Description
This kit makes it easy to wire a towbar electrics socket to a modern canbus vehicle.
Includes smart relay box & prewired 7 pin socket.
Just connect to your vehicle’s rear lights with your chosen connectors, such as scotchlocks, crimps, soldering etc... Just like wiring a towbar on an older vehicle!
Will work with virtually all modern vehicles, suitable for canbus (computer) controlled rear lights, bulb warning systems etc
Requires a suitable 12v feed from the vehicle battery or rear fuse box to power the smart relay.
This smart relay detects the signal to the vehicles rear lights & then powers the trailer lights from the 12v battery feed. It takes so little from the vehicle lighting circuit that the vehicle computer cannot detect it.
Supplied with 1.5m of 7 core cable prewired to the 7-pin socket. Once this wire is feed through into the vehicle this should be connected to the smart relay via easy screw terminals (as shown in the pictures). Connect white wire to chassis ground.
The smart relay then has a further 2ft of cable to connect to the vehicle lights just like wiring a towbar to an older vehicle. Connect relay as follows;
Yellow Wire - Connect to left indicator.
Blue Wire - Connect to fog lamp.
White - Connect to chassis earth.
Green - Connect to right indicator.
Brown - Connect to right side light.
Red - Connect to brake light.
Black - Connect to left side light.
After these connections are made connect your 12v feed from the battery or the vehicle fuse box.
Also suits cars with combined brake/sidelight cirucits. In this case just connect the red wire & don't connect the brown/black wires. This extra wires should be insulated with tape or heatshrink. The smart relay will automatically detect this system & power the trailer lights as required.
