Description
According to legend, a basilisk is a hideous, ferocious beast from the egg of a toad and hatched by a rooster. It's not to be confused with the cockatrice, a similarly hideous beast from the egg of a rooster and hatched by a toad. Who knows, however, what sort of demonic salamander might emerge from an egg laid by a basilisk and hatched by a basilisk, as depicted here?Pliny the Elder stated that the basilisk will cause death to anyone who looks upon it. Clearly some creature here was unfortunate enough to happen upon a basilisk's nest and instantly turned into a pile of bones.
Gaff taxidermy crafted from a real snake/lizard/frog + bones. The basilisk herself is not glued to the base to make shipping easier. She can be positioned any way you like, or you can glue her in position upon arrival. For safety reasons, try to avert your eyes while doing this.
11" long including the base, check the ruler photo for reference.
