This is a large, white rat, dressed up like Florence Pugh's character 'Dani' from Midsommar. The rat is mounted in an upright standing position with arms down. I sculpted the facial features to mimic the emotional distress that the character feels throughout most of the film.
The May Queen Dress and Crown were made by me, using hundreds of tiny flowers. These are flowers I've collected over the course of many years. In addition, I moulded and painted new ones. The flowers all match the color scheme of the ones from the film. I attempted to get it looking as close to the real thing as possible.
Both the dress and the crown are fully removable. The crown rests gently on her head and comes off and on easily. The dress has hook and loop fastener up the back. In addition, I sewed a stretchy elastic cord around the neck so it can cinch a bit more snugly to the neck. There's a hole cut into the back of the dress for her tail. The hole is reinforced. The dress fits neatly and fully around the wood base she is attached to.
The underside of the wood base has a layer of soft foam so it won't mess up your furniture.
She's BIG. With the dress and crown both on, she measures about 11" tall. The diameter of the bottom of the dress is about 9."
Midsommar had a deep affect on my brain. While I didn't find it scary, the visual language of the film really spoke to me. The creepy, chilling atmosphere juxtaposed against bright sunlight and beautiful flowers is quite a sight to behold.
Animal origin: purchased frozen from a pet food supplier.
Note on fragility: Taxidermy is not intended to be played with. They're not dolls. I've done my absolute best to build both the rat and the costuming strong, and to last. But I wouldn't recommend taking the pieces off and on constantly.
