    Product Description
    :
Amboyna Burl is one of the most splendid burl woods to look at. It’s an exotic wood that is one of about 60 in the Pterocarpus genus, which is said to be a smallish to fairly large tree of the tropics. It is, supposedly indigenous to Malaysia but is often reported in the Philippines, Borneo, Burma, New Guinea and the
    Malay Archipelago. The bending strength
is similar to Teak. Strength in compression parallel to grain is considered to be in the high range. It’s moderately hard and is resistant to wear and to marring. It’s a heavy wood, high in density and polishes very nicely. I’ve seen it in pens, knife handles and pistol grips, all very beautiful. It’s an expensive wood. One of the exotic wood sellers has a piece that measures slightly less than 6” x 7” x 9” for 0.00.
Our piece, sealed to prevent drying out, measures 3 3/4” x 3 7/8”
    X 14 1/4" long.
